WHERE: Pelham Bay Park and City Island, Bronx

START: Pelham Bay Park subway station (6 train), fully accessible

FINISH: Pelham Bay Park subway station (6 train), from Bx29 bus

DISTANCE: 3.5 miles (5.6 kilometers)

This walk will take in a portion of Pelham Bay Park on the way to the Bronx’s own fishing village, City Island. City Island is where a number of racing yachts that won the America’s Cup were built. We’ll stop for lunch somewhere on City Island.

We’ll gather at the station booth at the Pelham Bay Park subway station, departing at 12 Noon sharp. All are welcome but let me know you’re coming, using the form below, and be on time. In the event of inclement weather this walk will be re-scheduled with 24 hours’ notice.

Planned Transit Disruptions: If you’re coming from central Brooklyn, the 4 train will not be operating between Bowling Green and Brooklyn. Take the N, Q, or R train to 14 Street - Union Square and transfer to the 4 or 5 train to 125 Street, transferring there to the 6 train. Or take the A or C train to Fulton Street, transfer to the 4 or 5 train to 125 Street, and transfer there to the 6 train. As always, check MTA Planned Service Changes for updates.

In the event of inclement weather this walk will be re-scheduled with 24 hours’ notice.
